VERY IMPORTANT! THE GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR)

This came into force on 25th May 2018 and affects all organisations that hold personal details of people, including ourselves.

The Liverpool Blue Coat Old Blues' Association held details of all our members and associates, but we will need positive consent from any individual to hold their details after 25th May. As from 25th May, we are not allowed to use our old database.

To comply with this legislation, we attempted to contact all our members and associates before 25th May, and ask them to complete a DATABASE CONSENT FORM with their up-to-date details. The form is optional, and you need only fill in the items you want us to know. You will also be able to select the purposes for which we can use this information (for example; to inform you of events, or send you a newsletter). Lots of information and advice is contained in the form for you to read before filling it in.

From the forms that we are receiving, we are compiling a new database. This is stored in a secure electronic format, and only a few designated officers of the charity are able to access this. It will not be shared with any other organisation. The Blue Coat School is setting up its own new database, and any of our members who wish to be included on it must register their details separately with the school.

The consent form was sent by e-mail or in paper form by post to all those on our current database, and is available to download as a Word document or PDF file from the "JOIN US" page of this website. If you are an Old Blue, please do this now so that we don't lose touch. Sadly, over 100 of our e-mails were returned un-delivered, as people had changed their e-mail addresses and not notified us.

Any person on the new database will have the right to see what information we hold about them, and can ask to be removed (or their details amended) at any time by writing to us or filling in a new form.

Further information is contained on the form, and full details of the Regulation can be viewed on the website of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) by following this link:
