Return to the Blue Coat - by Tony Salmon and Alan Gleave
ISBN 978 0 9557484 0 0 (£7.99)
Tony Salmon was a "day-boy" at the Liverpool Blue Coat School from 1971 until 1977. This book tells the story of his many adventures during those years and his nostalgic return in 2004. Alan Gleave joined the school as a teacher of English in 1975, and Tony Salmon was in the first class he entered for "O" level. After 27 years away, Tony returned in 2004 to find Alan Gleave was still there, and due to retire the following year. This book sees Blue Coat life in the 1970s from two perspectives, teacher and pupil. But, to be honest, they are not really different.
Recollections of Two Blue Coat Boys 1944-55 by Hugh Stephenson
ISBN 978 0 9557484 3 1 (£6.99)
Hugh Stephenson and his twin brother Guy arrived at the Blue Coat in 1944, while the school was evacuated to Beaumaris. This book charts not only their personal experiences, but reveals many of the changes that came about as Mr G G Watcyn took over as headmaster, the school returned to Liverpool and the beginnings of the bi-lateral age, as the girls left and day-boys were admitted for the first time in over 200 years.

The Liverpool Blue Coat School, Past & Present: 1708-2008
As he was about to retire in 1968, Mr G G Watcyn produced this official history of the Blue Coat School. The 1970s and 1980s saw many great changes take place in the life of the school, and in 1995 the book was brought up to date by Mr J L Davies, better known as "Taffy" or "Dai". Mr Davies had taught at the school since 1952. As part of the Tricentenary year, the Brotherly Society thought it would be a good idea to update it again. Mr Peter Healey, for many years Chair of the Governors, was best placed to do this, and gladly set about the task with enthusiasm.
